Advice on monitor mount

I could use some machine-shop expert advice here.

My wife reclaimed my office to turn into a bedroom. So, I’m setting up my office in a converted attic, which doesn’t have as much space, and a desk won’t really work because of the sloped ceilings.

I’m putting in a round table, and want to mount the monitor on the ceiling using a couple of items I picked up on Ebay: a medical monitor mount and a track for a dental light. The problem is that I will need to mount the extension pipe for the monitor arm onto the slider mount for the dental light. I’ve attached some photos. The white hardware is for the monitor mount. What’t the best way to go?

  1. Bore out the dental light mount and re-thread for the monitor extension pipe. The monitor extension is a bit larger diameter than the dental light extension, so this may be a viable option

  2. Bolt on the flat plate for the monitor mount, Using some spacers to clear the threaded “volcano” region. This may be easiest.

  3. Weld or epoxy the mount for the monitor extension to the dental light mount.

  4. Create a coupler/adapter fitting

  5. ?? better option

I’d be grateful for any suggestions, especially if it’s something that may be doable at the space.
Thanks,

Dave

There are a few options. You can cut off the threads on the off-white/egg shell/beige, then rethread it in standard conduit threads. From there use a rigid coupling & an RE (reducing bushing) to tie them together. That would likely be the easiest.

Option 5 : Put the wife’s project bedroom in the attic and reclaim your man cave
