Hi Guys im new to the makerspace community. I work in the video games industry as a UI artist and I have been an Illustrator for the past 15-20 years. My main specialty is digital Illustration and I would like to offer a few class to anyone interested in learning how to use Adobe Illustrator.
Im trying to gauge the interest.
Also Im open to any topics you guys want me to cover.
That sounds interesting. I own a copy of AI, but I hardly use it.
How would you set up this class? I suppose that those who have laptops with AI on them would use them. That’s always a problem with classes like these.
I’d be interested as well, but would note that a large percentage of the space might be using Inkscape instead of Illustrator, and making accommodations for that in the class(es) would be appreciated.
Illustrator is an awesome tool, I think there’s a good amount of interest, but I think that would improve if more people understood what it is and how it can help with some of the tools at the space (vinyl cutting, for example). Should promote some of the utility aspects of vector software.
How are you with Photoshop? I overheard someone asking if there were classes on it. Was considering teaching some beginner ones, but I’m mostly a front-end web designer and not a particularly wonderful artist or anything.
Been using photoshop for many years. I have CS3 and it has AI and i have been confused about aspects of using it.
So, I would be interested. I used CorelDraw years ago. It integrated both vector and bitmap very well. I have always been confused as to why the two are not one in the Adobe suite.
I will definitely cover how Illustrator would benefit you while using the tools in the space.
I will cover mostly how it works and not any specific artistic styles (that is up to you to discover )
I can also cover photoshop and any other Adobe products,I am familiar with:
Indesign
Photoshop
Dreamweaver
Flash
After Effects
I just want to see how this class goes first and then incorporate others.
Ive never used incscape but I will take a look at it and see if it works similarly to illustrator.
thanks for all the feedback, My first day will be this coming Thursday open house.
I will probably need some help finding how I could actually teach this. Im hoping that theres a projector that I could use with my PC/laptop
I joined MS to learn a graphics program to use to design fabric so classes would be very appreciated. I am not sure what graphics programs are best suited for fabric design so learning a bit about AI and Photoshop would be most helpful. I used Corel Draw many years ago.
I’d be interested as well in either Illustrator or Corel Draw. I do a lot of stuff with leather, paper & vinyl, but have been limited to what I could cut at home. Now that my craft cutter will accept uploaded images rather than purchasing their prepackaged art, I have a large number of images I’d like to use, but they’d need to be modified or cleaned up. I downloaded a trial to Corel Draw for that purpose, but it’s worthless unless you know what the heck you’re doing! I would also like to be able to use some of the images to digitize for embroidery at some point.
I’m not sure if the class happened or if some of y’all still need help, but I’m up for lending a hand if you have any projects that need AI help. I’m not an illustrator like @macapaka, just a designer, but I do know how the Illustrator tools work and can give advice or show y’all the ropes.
Hi guys
Sorry I havent really had time recently to make this class happen… I will set up a class schedule in a few days and hopefully can have a class next weekend or during the week…
