Good afternoon y’all!
I’m interested in taking a Traditional Woodcarving class, but every class that is scheduled is booked almost immediately. Will additional classes be added soon?
Best regards,
Andy Jones

Hi Andy,
Just a bit of background, that is a private group that meets up here and schedules it as a class. Sorry to say. its’ not a traditional DMS class so it will always be full by that group.
I have attended as a beginner years ago. My recommendation is to stop by the wood carving table and introduce yourself to the instructor. He’s an amazing wood carver and a great teacher. His name is Hans.
You might also email him at [email protected] and tell him of your interest. I will tell you that you will need quality carving tools and you must have more interest than just a casual interest to be allowed into the class. Here’s the kind of tools you’re going to need. These are the ones I bought. German made of course:
You can find more information about Hans and his work here:
Here’s Han’s bio: “My name is Hans Schwalm. For over 20 years I studied the fine art of wood carving from the Bavarian master wood and stone sculptor Ludwig Kieninger. Continuing the tradition, I create art and teach in North Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex area*)”
He has tremendous skills. As I recall the class was like $50 a class. It is likely more now. He has a dedicated group of carvers so the class is always full as @Lordrook mentioned.
.
I have some Two Cherries gouges. Beautiful tools and smoothly sharp, but the ones advertised as “palm chisels” are too big for my tiny little hands.
