Accidentally left a inlaid box not assembled at the space

Does anybody know what happened to it, it had triangular figured maple inlays with nogal borders and a rabitted dovetail edge joints

So I’m guessing somebody threw it out, which is cool cause it wasn’t like it took a lot of effort or time or material, guess some people don’t really understand the “be excellent to each other” cause that took a lot of work to make

And to add insult to injury the reason I left it at the space was because I was actually being excellent to another member I went to woodcraft to pick up a vise for Jimmie Aldrich and forgot them

Do you have a rough timeframe as to when? And a location so we can check the cameras to see if it was moved/trashed/taken?

I think I saw that on the Baldor box under the middle work table on Monday. If that’s what you’re talking about I moved it to the scrap box since it was just laying out.

Which is it?

If your stuff got stolen that’s a bummer.

My “DMS Go Bag” always had a composition book and pens/pencils in it (along with PPE and measuring/cutting tools). Mostly so I could sketch stuff or make notes on what I needed to do next, but also so I could put a note on my stuff if I had to walk away. You might try putting a note with your name on your stuff and the date/time.

It was never intended to be left, me and Jimmie were talking, I mentioned going to woodcraft, he politely asked since he doesn’t drive if he could tag along, I said I’d do you one better since I needed to go home that I’ll just swing by pick it up and bring it back to you, then since he has the intrinsic ability to start really interesting conversation, I forgot about it when it was time for me to pack up and leave! But it was obviously put on the freebie shelf which is ok cause Atleast it will be used instead of just trash, to whoever adopted it, it’s figured maple, figured mahogany, and the black inserts are nogal, if whoever ended up getting it post some pics when finished I’d love to see how it turned out since I’d end up being a collaboration of two style of working’ a pretty cool hybrid of styles

Lol haven’t made up my mind yet

Just a quick interjection shouldn’t it have gone to the lost a found if it was someone project that had been abandoned not the scrap section? Cause it obviously belonged to someone

Again I’m not that upset about it, I have more material in storage to remake it, it’s just the whole be excellent to each other, and scraping it vs giving the owner a chance to reclaim it doesn’t feel very excellent

It’s probably still there? Did you look?

It was not there when I was there, I just thought the precedent was if it obviously belonged to someone then lost and found, but if it unattended and unlabeled, scrap it there’s a plethora of stuff I’ll make sure to scrap left unattended unlabeled and not for committee use in the woodshop
I just feel there’s a biased towards anything I leave cause I leave 4 8”x4”x3/4” boards under a table for a day and they’re scrapped meanwhile there’s a 4”x4”x4’ pole and and a 6’x12”x1.5” board just chilling by the miter saw going on a week week and a half now, but that’s probably because y’all see when I leave it and act promptly vs other stuff left doesn’t get the attention mine does

I can absolutely tell you there’s no one stalking you on the cameras waiting for you to leave material behind.

I came through Monday night and found a bunch of stuff sitting around in the annex and I cleared it all to the scrap bin because I’m trying to keep the annex looking really clean right now.

At the next committee meeting we’re going to go through all the stuff in the woodshop and throw that away /clean it up next. Once that happens I’m going to encourage everyone to make an effort to keep that space clean just like the annex.

This kind of post is really scary, do you really think anyone cares enough to try and find when you leave stuff so they can throw it away? This post is delusional man.

That’s the beauty of bringing paper and pencil. When you put your stuff on a table to work, you just take a moment to tear out a page and make a note that says “Chris’s stuff, (214)-555-1212, 6/20/2021”

Then you can be as forgetful as you want, you’ve done your due diligence. Takes 10 seconds.

Being malicious/vindictive in response to a (probable) non-malicious act. Wow. Some would call that a dick move.

I have it on very good authority otherwise, I’ll never say who cause I appreciate their candidness, and honesty with me, but I can tell you that first statement is very false

Again, it wasn’t my idea, it wasn’t something I thought, it wasn’t something I suspected! So your delusional comment is in fact delusional

If there’s someone purposefully watching cameras looking to see if you, specifically, are doing something against the rules, please let me or the board know.

That’s dumb and a misuse of power. The makerspace is here to support everyone’s maker journey, including making mistakes, yours included.

You should not be being targeted by anyone at any time.

believe me I’ve felt it’s been an egregious violation of the anti harassment rule when I found out, and a border line obsession assuming in the last 2 years I’ve had 0 incidents as far as breaking the rules and every single day since we’ve return from lock down I’ve cleaned the whole woodshop with the air gun literally without missing a day, but still the Chris’s woodworking show gets pretty substantial criticism, so im told
It doesn’t bother me cause I have nothing to fear or hide in my actions or behavior when at the space, but time is the most valuable thing we have nobody can buy more so if someone wants to waste theirs watching me build random stuff then that’s fine with me, that’s time they can’t get back
