So I’ve been thinking (yes, I’ve often been warned about that) and I recently had a thought that it would be kind of a neat idea if we had a thread or could even somehow create a calendar, like the events calendar, that had upcoming shows.
I’m talking about craft shows, large-scale flea markets, thanks along the lines of Western Days, Comic-Con, A-fest, Etc.
I know there’s several people that set up booths at the shows and others that would be interested in knowing about them to be able to go and check everything out, myself included.
In my head I envisioned something along the lines of a monthly view calendar interface where users can click on a specific date to see any events happening. We could have information there including start dates, entry deadline dates, Etc.
@jast or @yashsedai might be able to get some insight on what a task like that would entail. I personally haven’t built a website in a long time but I do believe that there are calendar modules that can easily be added, but I’m going purely on speculation.
I thought it was a decent idea, just figured I’d throw it out there see if anyone else agreed and would like to see that as well.
I had thought about that too, but figured that either the classes/on-site events might get buried or vice versa which is why I brought up about a dedicated calendar for off-site/selling opportunity events.
I know I’ve missed several deadlines simply because I didn’t know about them or have any good information about them like location, cost or where to apply for a booth space.
That thinking is what led me to believe that others might have had the same issue.
The idea of posting external events sounds great Mad, also, so does using what we have already too. Im curious what it looks like to a DMS newbie such as myself.
Can one of you fast-track me with a link to the Calendar that Bill is talking about. I’m looking at my list of categories, and well I’m still fumbling around to find out where things are.
Example, I’m also trying to find out where the initial competency tests are for things such as the 3D printers, MIG welding, and actually the Embroidery machine if there is one for that too. Three key media I am working with toward my final exhibition.
Also, I Tried to RSVP for an event, but could not login. I made a post under the Members Only Access category. Hopefully that was the right thing to do.
Your login will be with the user name you created, not your email. The email only works for the Account, as that always works (so that you can pay at anytime). The username is only working when you’re a paid member.
Talk is totally disconnected (link-wise) to the rest of the DMS “stuff”. Although, getting your Green Dot is helpful within Talk. It only opens up a couple of things, but one of those is Issues and Requests.
Check to make sure your transaction went through. I just checked the User List, and there are zero Rob Phillips. Also, only one of the Phillips on the list is active. Pretty sure that’s not you.
Wow. Ok. I guess I did not see any error when I applied, and then thought that my Talk access was indicative of successfully joining.
Thanks for pointing out that the Talk login is separate. That explains why … everything … haha. Ok I’ll go join again. Umm. I am sure that we will be able to do whatever is necessary if I over pay. Right?
I appreciate the patience and assistance. Going to join now.
Well, if you see a hit on your bank account for the $60, that definitely needs an email to Accounts, so that they can figure out where you went. If it didn’t hit your bank, though, then running back through the account start will be your best bet.
