I have been hearing on KRLD that the Walsh development in Far West Fort Worth will feature its own makerspace: http://www.star-telegram.com/news/business/article127821089.html
It is not clear whether additional fees are charged to use it or if it is an amenity covered by HOA dues.
Robson Ranch has a sort of makerspace in their community - it has a nice compact wood working shop with a small cnc router, ceramics area and painting / crafts area and more.
Living in a “master planned” community or a HOA is not my cup of tea - I prefer my freedom.

Their most attractive amenity to me is “smoke free.”
I hated the way smoke entered my unit from my neighbors’. And I would bet that insurance is cheaper in nonsmoking complexes.
