The hardware to do this is amazingly cheap. Starting at about $40 on ebay.
If you are working with more modern chips or arduino’s you probably only need 8channels, which can be bought for about $5
If anyone would like to see how these work, I can bring mine in for a demonstration. I have both types as well as the original Saleae 8
