4x 22 Inch IT Equipment racks (free)

For adoption to a good home (free).

Racks

Exterior dimensions are 22w 30d 87h (note that they’re really tall for racks)

4x Racks for standard IT/Media style equipment. These were ordered and were not returnable, but were physically too large to be installed into our customer’s premises.

Each has a vented steel rear door and a lightly smoked solid plexiglass front door.

Take one or take them all. Preference given to uses within the Makerspace, but the offer is open to anyone who wants to deal with them. If they’re not gone in a week they will be going to a metal recycler. They are currently located about 7 minutes south of the Makerspace. I can deliver all of them to the Makerspace (with some assistance) if that is helpful. Bossman just wants them gone!

If only …

  • I didn’t have a huge project backlog at home
  • My main ongoing project wasn’t a storage shed to deal with all my other accumulated cr_p
  • Said ongoing project were further along
  • My home network aspirations warranted such enormous racks

@StanSimmons are our existing racks adequate? Do we foresee server expansion?

Would these be a good starting point for 3D printer enclosure/racks?

The max internal space is 17 7/8 width. According to Polyprinter’s website, the 229 is just a hair under 16 inches wide. They would fit on a rack shelf!

Took the words right out of my mouth :joy:

If they can be disassembled for storage, then yes Infrastructure can use them. I will need to store them until the expansion.

Guessing they can not be easily disassembled. Not sure what one these costs but guessing 2 of these free would easily pay for many months in storage. Seriously consider getting 2 for server room in the new addition.

These are the type of donations contemplated for the 3rd storage unit. New donations for use in new space/expansion.

my thoughts exactly. Well that and if Infrastructure cant take them I know of a person that could fine a good home for two units.

But, I’d rather see Infrastructure use them first before even thinking about picking one up for Studio42.

So are we concluded then? Are they going to DMS?
If not, I would take one. Let me check on the height though.

scratch that. Wont Fit. I donate mine to DMS.

Hey all, I’m fairly certain that they arrived pre-assembled and I THINK that there are too many welded spots on these to break them down. It may be possible to take them apart, but it doesn’t appear so.

That will make them more of a challenge to store, we’ll figure it out.

This is the type of donation the extra storage unit was contemplated for. We need it but don’t have space … yet.

Yep, heading there today.
