3D Printing Price Check

Hey all,

I’m relatively new and planning a project I want to work on. Can someone remind me what the prices are for the 3d printer materials? I’ve not been able to find the information online anywhere.

Thanks,
Chris V.

Thank you. And thanks for the link. Somehow I couldn’t find that myself.

I found boxes of filament at Microcenter for only $15. I prefer this to worrying about paying by the gram.

Does that need to be a specific size to use in the printers we have? (I know extremely little about 3D printing right now, sadly. I’m just trying to get into it now that I have access  )

Yup - you need 1.75mm filament. I like the Micro Center ABS filament, seems to work well. And I probably just doomed my next print to a clogged nozzle.

(edit: I hear the stuff PolyPrinter sells is very nice as well)

It is, but it’s pricey.

Yeah cheap or old filament can wreck the nozzles on our printers - especially cheap black filament, presumably because it has more dye solids? I’ve generally found most colors of the Inland filament from MicroCenter work a treat, but the black gunks things up pretty bad.

Hatchbox makes good filament for $20-25, but you have to order online. They also have some colors you might not be able to find elsewhere, such as metallics.

Last time I checked it was $45.
