I want to print a piece of land from google earth. I used sketch up to select the area I want and make it 3d. Once I export it as a mesh it is too thin for the slicer to recognize. I tried to subtract it from a block but it said there were holes in the mesh. I need a way to add thickness to the mesh and make it printable.
Typically this is accomplished by exagerating the vertical scale. It actually makes the scene seem more real, since at scale most terrain doesn’t look terribly impressive… Don’t know how to do this with your approach, but the USGS DEM files have many tools to accomplish this, and those files are what google uses. Do a google search for DEM 3D modelling.
