The old tried and true lathe Colchester Bantam lathe will be going out of service at our Machine Shop Member meeting next Wednesday. Our new to us lathe is ready to go and will be moved into position and the Bantam taken off line.
We need to dispose of it, and will be taking bids, it will come with:
A three and four jaw chuck
All the non-spring loaded chuck keys we have
It will have the small quick change tool post but not quick change tool holders
Variable Frequency Drive
No Live Center or Drill chuck (they work on other lathe)
Currently connected to 208V 3 Phase
Major known flaws: No high gear range so any threading and auto-feeds associated with those don’t work, misalignment issue with tail stock. It supposedly has a coolant pump system but I have yet to hear anyone say it works or that it has even been tried since we didn’t want the coolant mess.
The rest you are welcome to check out, sold As-Is Where-Is.
Will take bids through 6PM, Wednesday the 12th. Highest payment at that time wins bid. One week to remove: by midnight the 19th. If not removed by then monies paid will be forfeit and next highest bidder can claim. (We want it gone or it becomes a Hand Held Plasma torch project).
Free Loading is included in the purchase price of all Machine Shop purchases during April! We can arrange to get it onto your truck or trailer, bring it into the bay and we can use the gantry to lift it.
Since I haven’t looked closely at it, what are the power requirements for it?
Mainly curious to know if it is 3 phase only, or will the VFD convert single to 3 phase?
