24 Hours of Lemons! Houston this weekend! Nov 11th 2017

Unicorn potty? :blankspace:

The miata trashed the transmission during test and tune. Luckily we brought spare parts, and had it fixed. After it was fixed, we had the miata on the dyno.

A fine time to make friends with the local mechanics.

They were quite lenient in judgment of this race. In years past, they may have been quite judgemental of the hood. This year, they barely cracked the hood open on the miata. I would venture a guess that as long as it’s not super cheating like dropping a 500 hp engine in a go kart, they’re going to let it pass. At the end of the day, it isn’t about who goes fastest, it’s about which car can stay together longest.

In March, one of the fastest cars was in first or second most of the race, but then had problems, and struggled to finish the race.

Cool! Did you get a chart that showed a/f vs power chart?

Did both cars last the whole race?

How did they run?

The miata broke the transmission on Friday, and was replaced.

On Saturday, during the first driver stint, we put a Texas paint job on the wall going into the start/finish. Driver was shaken up, but ok. Unfortunately we broke pretty much everything in the driver front corner.

After the entire team replaced the radiator, control arms, lower a, etc, we found that the transmission had been broken.

Saturday was a bust for us, but we got the car back together and we gave it a shade tree alignment and drove it all day Sunday with issues. The driver front hub sounded like it was scraping, alignment was out of wack, cradles were shifted out of alignment, and the tires weren’t gripping. Otherwise, everything was fine and we checkered!

With great video like this, we should put a DMS logo inside the car.

How many times did the 301 visit the judges this weekend? Just a question, nothing nefarious.

About that…new record! 6 times. I blame the new drivers.

Good luck and have fun!

There are way to incentivize more conservative driving and awareness…:smirk:
