What does motion dismissed mean?

It means that they decided to take no action on the motion - i.e., the motion was defeated.

So they unanimously vote for the motion, then dismiss it?

Bit of non-obvious terminology I believe. They considered the agenda item, then a board member made a motion to dismiss the item, and they voted unanimously for the motion, which dismissed the item.
In item 6.7, for example, the board decided not to assist metal shop in purchasing their dynatorch scribe.

I’m puzzled about appointing a chair for Computer Committee under 6.3, then dissolving that committee in 6.6. Do we have an official chair for a non-committee? Or should that line have been deleted from the committee chair considerations?

I believe the British term would be “Chair without Portfolio”

It’s because we discussed the chairs first. The dissolution was one of the last things voted on as part of the consent agenda. It would be irregular to not allow the chair to go through without having the dissolution first. We could have reversed the order, but that’s just how it fell out. So, he was chair for a bit of time during the meeting.
