2007 Toyota 4Runner check engine light came on today when I started it (steady light, not flashing), as well as the traction control light and the other one (forget what it is for at the mo…). I don’t believe any of these lights have ever come on like this before. So 2 questions:
is it possible this is temporary just because it is cold as a well digger’s butt in the Yukon outside?
Do we have appropriate OBD diagnostic equipment at the 'Space to figure out what, if anything, is wrong?
Marshall,
Yes the traction control can be due to the weather - brakes may stick - especially parking brakes in frigid temps & the traction control is part of the braking system sensors.
We do have a primitive scan tool.
I’d suggest dropping by an Oreilly auto parts store and ask to them scan it and print what they find, then use the one at the space (if need be) and do a comparison.
They offer the service free of charge - the two stores where I know the managers certainly do and have better trained staff. One of which is next door to my work…
