10w diode laser advice

Anyone have any familiarity or recommendations for a 10w diode based laser?

As an example of what I mean: xTool D1 Pro 2.0 Laser Engraver

Looking at one as a possibility for etching labels and cutting thing wood veneer stock at my workplace.

Thanks!

did you buy one

Sorry, no info to add. Never went any further than the post on Talk.

I have a friend that bought the x tools laser. I’ve seen the work he puts out with it it’s really nice:: however he did up grade to the 20w…

If you aren’t doing complicated etching I would recommend upgrading to the 20w diode laser, they are much faster but I have noticed that they loose some super fine details that you would get with a 10w instead.

I have an xToolD1 Pro but I hear that Elegoo is going to be releasing one. I have always like Elegoo so if you aren’t in dire need of one I would recommend looking into that kick starter.

The xTool does have wireless printing but it only works with their software and doesn’t wireless print with lightburn which frustrates me because I prefer lightburn. Lightburn bridge doesn’t work with xTool.

Important thing to consider with diode lasers, Since they are mostly blue light based they don’t really do metal well unless you are using anodized aluminum or something similar. You also can’t really cut white/blue materials that well. C02 lasers tend to be faster and multipurpose from my experience.

Have a Xtool D1Pro 10w at thelab.ms works perfectly fine. Highly recommend. the 20watt is 4 emitters into a beam combiner… thats alot of beams to combine in my opinion over 2. Lightburn 100% works with XTOOL.

Company propaganda would have one think the 40W model can cut thin (like 5mm) plywood with ease, but given how slow the Thunders have to cut with 130W of power (and supposedly a smaller spot size) I’ve got my doubts.
