What Developers/DevOps Guys Really Want

I will have you know a nerf gun is a highly precise piece of testing equipment used in evaluating touch screen (IR, Res, SAW, Optical) responsiveness. Its just a coincidence the calibration app looks like a bulls eye and keeps count of the “touches”.

It’s a shame that members would not pick up the darts and it could potentially cause issues because every software and devops team I’ve put together or managed always had five major things outside of the usual BDD/Agile based projects:

  • Quarterly hack-a-thons of team chosen topic/tech (could be anything they wanted to play with and I do mean anything)
  • The team’s favorite energy replenishing drink on stock and freely available
  • Ping pong table and rarely sleep pod for the right team (depends on their dynamics and role demands)
  • Weekly (some times daily) nerf dart wars
  • Bagel days where project managers and business get to sit with team leads over pizza or bagels and get unabias input from the technical side on things and team members get a chance to architect a piece of the project
