Suggested Donation?

What should I reasonably be giving to the funds box if I were to use some surface mounted resistors, capacitors, etc.?

Snarky answer: If you want to use ‘some’ parts then you should donate ‘some’ money.
Better answer: Find out what they’re worth online and donate about that much, maybe a little more due to you not having to actually bother with the order or waiting.
Best Answer: Tag the chair of electronics (I think it’s @artg_dms) and hopefully he can give a better answer.

General policy is:
For personal/prototype projects, there’s no charge.
Do a production run / use “many” parts we ask you either replace the parts or make a donation.
All of the parts in the ELab have been donated.
Committee funds are used for equipment, consumables, and teacher supplies.

Thanks for asking!

This is an excellent policy! It is a real perk for members and costs DMS nothing. Several months back I heard tour guides say you needed to pay. More recently, at Open House, the guides were stating the policy as @artg_dms explained. Good job guides! @Team_PR
