New Competitive Robotics Committee, Vote on new classes!

Hey Everyone,

The new Competitive Robotics Committee has been approved by the Board. We wanted to tell everyone what we are working on and what the Committee will do for our community.

The purpose of the Competitive Robotics Committee is to organize robotics competitions at the Makerspace, to educate the membership about robotics, and to compete in regional, national, and international robotics competitions including BattleBots.

Our primary project is the design and development of a combat robot for BattleBots and other combat robotics competitions. Feel free to come to our regular meeting at 4pm on Sundays, check the DMS calendar for details.

Some classes we are considering include:

  • Intro to CAD (hands on workshop)
  • Solidworks or Fusion 360
  • Design a Beetleweight (3lb) Combat Robot (hands on workshop)
  • Electric Motor and Speed controller selection (lecture type class)
  • Material selection basics, A comparative approach (lecture type class)
  • Quick and Dirty: How to go from Idea to prototype (hands on workshop)

What are y’all most interesting in learning?

Sounds interesting. Just wondering, where will the 4’x8’ area of workshop be?

We haven’t really figured that out or discussed that yet, that I know of.

Bump,

Anyone else want to vote on what class should be given?

I feel like this should be some sort of platform that lowers from the ceiling :stuck_out_tongue:
