I’ve got several metal working projects I want to complete in 2019. Is there an equivalent to the woodshop 101 for the metal shop? I’m not seeing it on the calendar.
Also, related: I want to build a backyard furnace that I can start melting and casting my own aluminum pieces. At one time, I thought there was a class or interest in metal casting. Did that go by the wayside? Is there a class available anymore?

There isn’t a metal 101 requirement, but many of the tools have various training. For some of the tools training is not required, but there are guides and helpful things on the committee drive to look at.
In the calendar looking under the category metalworking it looks like only a TIG class is currently on the calendar. However, classes often appear the same week they occur so keep an eye out.
Casting is generally done with Jewelry / small metals
