June Makercrawl - brainstorming to action

My students are knee-deep in carving stone so that can mean only one thing - Nicole has free time to PLAN things. Wahahahahaha

May is a complete wet sandbag of fun and frustrations so I’m not planning jack outside coffee and backscratches. However, my eyes are set on June or early July for Saturdays of creepy white van adventures.

This is what I’ve been thinking about trying to line up and would like some input:
I’m personally interested in this school but I’m not sure if others would be http://thelamplighterschool.org
Continental Gin where @Print_Witch has her studio https://www.continentalginbuilding.com
@Adam_Oas has a lead on a TV studio to tour
and @engpin workplace https://scottishritehospital.org - this is a place I’ve toured with my students and it blew me away Scottish Rite printing body parts
Also brookhavencollege.edu is a good little visit to see how they work with spaces and supplies
I’m also always wanting excuses to hit the http://thewarehousedallas.org
I could go on but I’m going to stop.

Last time it seemed like 4 places were about perfect. The scottish rite tour would be the longest (and we would plan lunch at the hospital - it was delicious and really inexpensive)

Here’s my “always-working-on” hit list of places to go to- if you have places to add please chime in: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oNx7IXIgX57enSx9fo2Sm81dGBcwLsXIcrpYCrW4uQA/edit?usp=sharing

If you don’t mind (and you’re interested in going on a maker crawl) - please vote on what you’re most interested in exploring:

  • Education: Schools/Universities
  • Makerspaces: Profit/Non-Profit/Library
  • Industry: Widget Makers and the like
  • Innovation Centers: Entrepreneurial Hives
  • Art Places: Nicole’s excuse to get into special situations
  • I don’t know just surprise me and feed my face
