We have purchased blank dye sub dog tags for the open house. They are white on one side and brushed aluminum on the other. Below is the design that I’m planning for the brushed aluminum side.
We (@uglyknees and I) have discussed having pictures of famous Makers for our visitors to select from, and then put on the other side of the dog tags themselves. I need suggestions from our illustrious members for Makers to include in the options. I’d like to have 10-20 options, covering a variety of disciplines. Thanks in advance for you help.
This is a really amazing website about inventors. Possibly the image could include a QR code linked to a bit of information about the person. I don’t know - just an idea.
While looking for a “variety of disciplines”, we should also be looking for a diversity of people in order to be truly welcoming to our members and guests. Making is universal and DFW is home to a cornucopia of humanity. @uglyknees’ patent office link is a good starting place, but even it’s collection is one-third women, two-thirds men. Half should be women. Some should be white, some should be black, some should be Hispanic, some should be asian, etc. It’s not hard to find names and pictures by searching combinations of key words: famous, women, black, Hispanic, asian, indian, native american, along with inventors, artists, scientists, architects, etc.
… Having pictures of famous Makers … There’s not much room on the dog tags for a “good” picture of someone.
What about having a cool and motivating quote from a famous inventor printed on the Dog Tag or come up with our own simple, cool, and motivating quote?
Example:
Ideas are worthless without execution! Make something!
Nothing happens until something is created! Get out there and make something!
