3D Printer Basics Online Class - Moodle

We have a 3D printer basics class that we made some time ago on the DMS Moodle Online Learning Management System - learn.dallasmakerspace.org

The class is here - http://learn.dallasmakerspace.org/course/view.php?id=2

The idea is that this will alleviate (@axeonos) the issue a lot of people have who are trying to learn the Polyprinters at the space but there isn’t enough classes.

@AlexRhodes is in charge of the Moodle system but I don’t think many people know about this. We don’t have integration with the Active Directory groups so that people who pass the tests can be added to the trained groups. The online class should be enough to learn the basics of getting the printer going and not breaking the printers.

Please take a look at the class, if it needs improvement I can make changes. I just don’t have time to teach 2-3 classes a week and no one else has been volunteering to teach basics.

If we get more people using it, I’ll happily make a ninjaflex and form 2 class on the Moodle if it’s effective.

I have been having issues with the online class not letting my check off the quiz and finish the class. I am linking the talk page where I show what is doing.

I would be willing to be trained to train others if there is still people needed in person to train.

I added the link to the Tools page of the wiki, right under where it says YES training is required.

Do you need to be an active member to log in and take the class? I have been a member in the past and I plan to rejoin once I get my next set of projects planned. I want to learn to 3d print, but I am not able to log onto the learn page. Thanks,

Yes it’s tied to the DMS active directory account so you need to be an active member sorry.

just finished the class! thanks for adding this. i seem to be having the same issue getting the quiz box ticked.

not to brag but i got a perfect score or whatever :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
also the link needs an HTTPS like u/talkers mentioned.

im assuming an admin will come along and hand out competency badges every so often? or is it automatic?

You need to contact @StanSimmons to be added to the AD Group.

The only place this is documented is in this post, pinned to the top of the 3D Fab category.
